The rockfish action from Santa Monica Bay to points north continues to be solid for half-day, three-quarter-day and overnight boats. The surface bite is still spotty, so most half- and three-quarter-day trips are focusing on rockfish from San Diego up into the Channel Islands. The more northern landings are seeing limit-style fishing on nearly all their trips. Pacific Islander was out with 21 anglers on a three-quarter-day trip April 24, and they landed 210 rockfish (limits) and three sculpin. That’s been pretty typical.
