SAN DIEGO LONG-RANGE
Posted On May 4, 2012
The San Diego long-range fleet continues to hammer the big yellowfin tuna south off the cape of Baja California. Royal Polaris reached the tuna grounds early May 1 and reported in with 51 wahoo (up to 70-plus pounds) and 59 yellowfin tuna, (including five over 200 pounds) on the first day of fishing. Royal Star was en route home with 24 yellowfin over the 200-pound mark. This bite just remains awesome. The spring season on The Ridge and at Cedros and Benitos islands for yellowtail and smaller yellowfin is also about to begin, and the fly-in skiff trips off Cedros Island will be starting soon.
