The catfish bite was good to excellent this past week at Corona Lake for the official catfish opener, and the action can only get better with another huge plant of catfish going in this week for the July 4th weekend. The catfish fishing was excellent at Santa Ana River Lakes this past week thanks to bonus plants for the official catfish season opener. Limits were common and lots of quality catfish were showing on anglers’ stringers. Bass: The longevity of largemouth action at DVL remains beyond compare. Most bass have been holding between 10-25 feet and biting on a variety of baits. Texas rigged brushogs or lizards in watermelon colors, fat Ikas in a host of colors, Drop shot rigged straight tail plastics in bold blue gill or morning dawn, and Senkos have all done well.
