FLOW INFORMATION: Reservoir elevation levels and flow releases for the entire lower Colorado River are available at this website with information updated hourly.
TOP NEWS: Warmer temperatures since the last storm have really started to perk the fishing, especially along the lower river below Blythe. While few catfish are showing yet, there has been an improvement in the smallmouth bass fishing in the main river on crawdad-like jigs and crankbaits fishing slowly and the bite on largemouth bass in the backwaters is breaking wide open. The major reservoirs are all also started to have much better largemouth and smallmouth action with the fish starting to come out of the winter doldrums. In Havasu, the smallmouth are improving on rocky structure with some even up chasing bait with stripers, and the largemouth have been fair on plastics. The striper bite is improving by the day, but most fish are still in deeper water on schools of baitfish. In Mohave, both the largemouth and striped bass are improving, with the best action near the dam and at the power lines. The largemouth and smallmouth have been best on jigs and plastics in both Havasu and Mohave, while the stripers are best on cut baits with a few starting to show on trolled lures. Fish to 12 pounds have been reported in Mohave this past week. There has also been a very good striper bite in Topoc Marsh this week on fish under three pounds, mostly on sardines. Cliff McDonald, Mohave Valley, had 10 stripers to three pounds from the marsh. Trout were planted again this past week in the river at Davis Camp and the Community Park in the Bullhead area. Catfish are improving, especially in backwaters, ditches, and canals all along the river, but mostly for channels. Few flatheads begin reported yet. A reminder, Cibola Lake reopens to fishing March 15.
