Fish Report-Freshwater, July 1

TOP NEWS: The striped bass are starting to spawn and have been moving upriver out of Lake Havasu and moving up all the way to Davis Dam. The fishing has been good from the upper end of Havasu at the sandbar all the way through Topoc Gorge and up to the dam. Lots of four to six-pound fish are showing with bigger fish being caught each week. There is also good action on the resident smaller stripers. The bigger fish are best on reaction baits, while the smaller stripers are best on cut baits. Shawn Reffett, Bullhead City, had stripers at 6.94 and 4.14 pounds on anchovies in the river south of Needles. There is also good redear action throughout Lake Havasu with a lot of two-pound class and bigger redear being caught.
