Fish Report-Freshwater, Nov. 4

TOP NEWS: Cooler weather may change things, but it hasn’t yet with the bite still fair to good throughout the river system. Stripers are fair to good in Mohave and Havasu with most of the fish chasing baitfish, mostly shad. This means some topwater or near-surface action, which sometimes can go on until mid-morning, and then action on fish in deeper water on cut baits. The largemouth and smallmouth bass action is generally good throughout the system, but especially in the backwaters for largemouths. The lower river is also pretty good for smallmouth bass, but getting little pressure. Havasu is also pretty good on smallmouth up chasing bait early (reaction baits) and then on rocky structure later (jigs and plastics). The catfish bite has been good from Lake Mohave all the way to Yuma, especially in the backwaters and lagoons, but also in the main river pools for flatheads. The flathead bite has steadily picked over in the past month with some quality fish reported. The redear and bluegill are fair to good in Topoc Marsh and Gorge, all of Havasu, and the lower stretch of river backwaters and lakes, but getting very little pressure.
