GENERAL UPDATE: The general season closed Sunday, Nov. 15. A number of waters remain open to year-around, catch-and-release fishing.
TOP NEWS: The portions of the East and West Walker rivers, most of the Owens River, and Hot Creek remain open to catch-and-release fishing. All four waters have been a little tough with cold water and weather conditions and low flows. The East Walker is probably the best of the lot with midge and streamer anglers getting a few quality fish topping 16 inches, but light fishing pressure. The run of big winter fish up into the Owens River out of Crowley is starting, with some fish showing up in the Hot Fingers stretch of the river. But the action is still tough. The lower Owens River has low flows and fair action on small nymphs or streamers.
