Anglers reportedly flocked to Santee Lakes in record numbers on Nov. 7 and 8, according to lake officials who reported 1,179 anglers participated in the two-day trout opener. The 2,500-pound stock of rainbows included 40 tagged trout and a large trophy catch. Devin Rex of Corona reeled in an 8-pound, 15-ounce lunker on a “last meal lure.” The catch earned him the first place prize of a free fishing pass for one year at Santee Lakes.
