High Desert Lakes, July 7 report

HESPERIA LAKE: The catfish bite has been good with catfish plants last Thursday and again this week. The weekly plants contain 1,000 pounds of fish. Lots of quality double-digit fish over the past couple of weeks. The best action has been on shrimp, inflated nightcrawlers, and the M&M (marshmallow-meal worm) combo. Information: 800-521-6332 or 760-244-5951.

JESS RANCH LAKES: Heat continues to keep the trout bite generally slow with only a few fish showing coming in before 9 a.m. Top baits have been PowerBait (in salmon peach, rainbow, and garlic), jigs, lures and nightcrawlers. The fish showing have all been 2-pound class fish. The pay-per-trout angling pond has been good. The catfish bite has also been pretty good for the few anglers fishing nightcrawlers and shrimp with cats to 5 pounds landed. Bass have been good on Senkos and nightcrawlers, and a few bluegill are also starting to show. For more information call 760-240-1107 or go to jessranchlakesnews.com.
