Winds from late last week through the cold front over the weekend hammered the local fishing from San Diego up into the Channel Islands, stalling even the rockfish action because of the terrible conditions. By March 19, the conditions were improving and the rockfish action picked up right where it had left off, with half- to three-quarter limits for the San Diego, Orange County and Los Angeles-based boats fishing local banks. The rockfish trips out of Ventura and Santa Barbara landings continued to post full limits on overnight and full-day trips, and half to theee-quarter limits on the half-day trips.
