While the five- to seven-day trips out of San Diego have really not begun for the season, there are early reports of excellent yellowtail action at Cedros and Benitos islands, with spring conditions there. Royal Polaris is on a long jaunt off Clipperton Island. The first day of serious tuna fishing was April 10, when the anglers on board landed 10 fish between 200 and 300 pounds — and the big fish was a 339-pound yellowfin. The giant tuna bite just keeps perking along.
