FISHING UPDATE: Trout action is beginning to sizzle all over the county. Top bets this week are Dixon, Poway, Cuyamaca, and Wohlford. The bass action has been fair at most waters. San Vicente remains probably the best bet for bass with most of the fish showing in deep water on shiners, plastics, and jigs. There has been a lot of bait up shallow and the bass are crashing the bait in one to six feet of water, and swimbait anglers are cashing in. The panfish bites are really slowing down, but a few bluegill are still showing at Jennings and Murray and a few crappie from Lower Otay. Jennings and Murray have also continued to have a fair catfish bites. Jennings is best on cut baits or nightcrawlers in Half Moon and Sentry coves, while Murray is best in the afternoons off the fishing pier. Unless the numbers are wrong, there is also a heck of a crappie bite at Lower Otay with over 600 fish caught this past week. You believe it?
