CARP DERBY: Bob’s Bait Bucket’s annual month-long carp derby is ongoing through the end of August. The entry fee is $1 per angler and you must register before you weigh in a fish. Only fresh fish can be weighed in and no weighing in of fish the same day as entering derby. The biggest carp weighed in during August will take the $100 prize, plus all the entry fee money from everyone entered. There are 62 entries so far and the leader is Jerold Cochran, Bakersfield, with an 11-14 carp. For more information or to register, call Bob’s Bait at 661-833-8657.

Flows are about 130 cfs coming into Isabella and around 360 cfs below the dam. In the lower river the bass and catfish bites are both fair with the bass on spinners while the cats are best on clams.
