For fly anglers, the bite is fair to good on wild fish, especially in the upper river near Johnsondale Bridge. Flows remain about 80 cfs coming into Isabella and from 180 to 120 cfs below the dam. In the lower river the bass and catfish bites are both fair with the bass on plastic worms and nightcrawlers, while the cats are best on clams or nightcrawlers.
