LAKE ISABELLA: The lake is not closed. Some of coves slowly drying back up have blue-green algae warnings, but the entire lake is not closed. There continues to be a fair catfish bite on with the best bite on super meal worms and clams. Most cats up into the six pound-class, occasionally a bigger fish. Other species have been slow with very little fishing pressure with the heat. Flows were just under 70 cfs going in and 230 going out this week. Best bite on the holdover planted trout has been crickets and salmon eggs, but this action is pretty slow. For fly anglers, the bite is fair to good, especially in the upper river near Johnsondale Bridge for wild fish. Lots of different surface action and hatches now. Flows are about 70 cfs coming into Isabella and around 230 cfs below the dam. In the lower river the bass and catfish bites are both fair with the bass on spinners while the cats are best on clams. Anglers are reminded the limit on stripers is two fish greater than 18 inches, while the largemouth limit is five fish greater than 12 inches.
