Fish Report – Freshwater, April 10 ed

HESPERIA LAKE: There were trout plants last week and another on Wednesday this week. This week’s plant is the last trout plant of the season and catfish plants (and night fishing) will start next week. There has been consistent trout action and some quality fish each week. Best rainbow this past week was an 11-pounder landed by Alec Williamson, Hesperia, on lemon twist PowerBait. Robert Alacanter, San Bernardino, caught a 10-pound rainbow, and Ramiro Palos, Orange County, had an 8-pounder. PowerBait, small trout jigs, and garlic nightcrawlers have been the best baits. JESS RANCH LAKES: Trout action was fair to good on both lakes this week. The best bite has been on PowerBait (especially chartreuse, garlic and salmon peach), jigs, and nightcrawlers. Bass are moving into the spawn with fish to 5 pounds reported. Catfish are also starting to turn on for anglers fishing shrimp or mackerel. MOJAVE NARROWS: There are weekly plants of trout by the county on Thursday, and the DFW added trout this week and two weeks ago. The trout bite has been fair to good on PowerBait, nightcrawlers, and Mice Tails. Still a fair catfish bite, mostly on nightcrawlers and cut baits. The annual trout derby will be this Saturday, and there will be a kid?s derby April 18. For lake information: (760) 245-2226.
