HESPERIA LAKE: Catfish season kicked off last week with a Thursday plant and another plant is slated for this week. Night fishing is now allowed until 10 p.m. The best bite has been on the marshmallow-meal worm combo and cut baits. Information: (800) 521-6332 or (760) 244-5951.

JESS RANCH LAKES: Trout action was very good this past week in both lakes this week. The best bite has been on PowerBait (especially spring green, garlic and salmon peach), jigs, and nightcrawlers. Bass are moving into the spawn with fish to 5 pounds reported. Catfish are also starting to turn on for anglers fishing shrimp or mackerel. For more information call (760)240-1107.

MOJAVE NARROWS: The trout bite has been good over the past week in both lakes.. There are weekly plants of trout by the county on Thursday through April 23, and the DFW added trout last week and two weeks ago. The bite is best on PowerBait, nightcrawlers, and Mice Tails. Top trout reported was a 4-5 rainbow landed by Chris Perez, Victorville, on a jig from Pelican Lake. Richard Moore, Apple Valley, had a three-pounder rainbow at the Horseshoe dam, while Daniel Mathews, Apple Valley, landed a pair of trout to two pounds in Pelican.
