Fish Report-Freshwater, Aug. 19

HESPERIA LAKE: Good catfish action with 1,000-pound plants last Thursday and this Thursday. The best action has been on the marshmallow-meal worm combo, shrimp, and mackerel. Most of the fish are in the two to three-pound range, but bigger fish are in each plant. Big fish this past week was a 12-pound cat landed by Mike Vega, Boyle Heights, on the M&M combo, while Danny Albright, Adelanto, had a 10-pounder to top off his four fish stringer caught on shrimp. Robert Baker, Victorville, landed a nine-pound cat, and Serena Serafiu, Fontana, caught a 7-8. Information: 800-521-6332 or 760-244-5951.

JESS RANCH LAKES: Trout action was slow to fair with anglers using PowerBait (especially salmon peach, rainbow and orange), small trout jigs, trout lures, or nightcrawlers. Hot spots included the western and eastern shores of lake 3 as well as the western and northern shores of lake 2. Anglers are reporting slow to fair bass action on Senkos with fish to five pounds. The catfish action is spotty, but some fish showing on mackerel and shrimp. Also some bluegill being landed. For more information call (760)240-1107.
