Fish Report-Freshwater, Aug. 28

HESPERIA LAKE: Good catfish action with 1,000-pound plants last Thursday and this Thursday. The best action has been on the marshmallow-meal worm combo, chicken liver, shrimp, and mackerel. Most of the fish are in the 2 to 3-pound range, but bigger fish are in each plant. Big fish this past week was a 10-pound cat landed by Gustavao Ceballos, Victorville, on a nightcrawler. JESS RANCH LAKES: Trout action was slow to fair with anglers using PowerBait (especially salmon peach, rainbow and orange), jigs, lures and nightcrawlers. Hot spots included the western and eastern shores of lake three as well as the western and northern shores of lake two. Anglers are reporting slow to fair bass action on Senkos with fish to 5 pounds.
