High Desert Lakes, Feb. 25 report

HESPERIA LAKE: The trout action remains good with a lot of nice quality fish landed over the past week. Top rainbow was an eight-pounder caught by Alolfo Vaqeuez, Hesperia, on a trout plastic. Bryan Davis, Ontario, landed a seven-pounder, and Michael Lomeli, Apple Valley, had a six-pound rainbow. Kayden Cheesebrough, 10, Long Beach, landed a three-pound rainbow. Mt. Lassen trout plants last Thursday and again this Thursday. Most trout are 2-pound class fish with bigger fish in each plant. Information: 800-521-6332 or 760-244-5951.

JESS RANCH LAKES: The trout bite has been fair to good with the warmer weather this week. The best action is on PowerBait (especially salmon peach, garlic, and rainbow), jigs, small trout lures, and inflated nightcrawlers. Most are two pounders. Slow other species. MOJAVE NARROWS: Just fair trout action, but Cyrus Simko, 7, Adelanto, caught a 2-8 rainbow fishing PowerBait mixed with cheese. County trout plants are weekly, and DFW trout went in four weeks ago. For lake information: 760-245-2226.
