HESPERIA LAKE: Good catfish action with 1,000-pound plants last Thursday and this Thursday. The best action has been on shrimp, mackerel, or garlic nightcrawlers. Most of the fish are in the 2 to 3-pound range, but bigger fish are in each plant. Top catfish this past week was an 8-pounder landed by Joe Ormonde, Phelan, on mackerel off the Finger. Eric Nicholson, Victorville, landed a seven-pound cat, while Juan Vargas, San Bernardino, had a six-pound cat. Rosella Segura, San Bernardino, had a 5 pounder, and Roberto Jimenez, Fontana, had five cats for a total stringer weight of 15 pounds. Information: 800-521-6332 or 760-244-5951.

JESS RANCH LAKES: Trout action has been slow to fair with the best action on PowerBait, especially salmon peach, spring green, or garlic) or inflated nightcrawlers. Some fish on small jigs or trout spinners or spoons early in the morning. The bass bite has been fair to good early and late in the day on Senkos or plastic worms, with some topwater action. Bass to 5 pounds have been reported. The catfish action is spotty, but some fish showing on mackerel and shrimp. For more information call (760)240-1107.

MOJAVE NARROWS: County catfish plants are alternating weeks this year through Sept. 3. The plant was scheduled for this week. DFW trout plant three weeks ago. For lake information: 760-245-2226.
