HESPERIA LAKE: Good catfish action with 1,000-pound plants last Thursday and this Thursday. The best action has been on shrimp, mackerel, or garlic nightcrawlers. Top fish reported included an 8-pound cat caught by Thao Sang, Hesperia, on mackerel off Sandy Point. Rhuony Ngun, San Bernardino, landed a 6-pounder while Latherio Page, Yucca Valley, had a four-pounder. Tyrone Shepard, Pasadena, landed a stringer of cats that weighed 9 pounds total, along with a 10-pound trout. Information: 800-521-6332 or 760-244-5951.

JESS RANCH LAKES: Heat has slowed the trout bite in both lakes over the past week. This few fish showing have come early in the morning on PowerBait in garlic, spring green, and salmon peach or inflated nightcrawlers, with a few fish also showing on small trout jigs or small spoons. The bass bite, however, has been good with fish to 5 pounds showing on a variety of plastics, including Senkos. The catfish action is also improving with some nice fish landed, mostly on mackerel and shrimp. For more information call (760)240-1107.
