Fish Report-Freshwater, Dec. 17

SANTA ANA RIVER LAKES: Most recent plant had rainbows and Lightning Trout. Fair to good action. Top fish reported was an eight-pound rainbow landed by Carlos Sanchez, Orange, on a Mijo Minnow in Chris’ Pond. A few catfish continue to show. Richard Smith, Covina, landed and released a 23-pounder. Trout plants are weekly. Information: 714-632-7851.

IRVINE LAKE: Fair trout action, with a few catfish and bass continuing to show. Top fish was a 14-9 wiper caught by Armando Renteria, Pacoima, off the west shore on MacBites. All boating, including use of rental boats, has been suspended here as of Sept. 5. Information: 714-649-9111.

LAGUNA NIGUEL LAKE: Trout plants are set to go in every two weeks. The most recent plant was a 2,000-pound plant Monday this week, and there will be a bonus 2,000-pound plant next week. There are no fishing fees this season, only the $5 parking fee on weekends (or $3 during the week). For more information, 949-923-2240.
