Orange County, Feb. 11 report

SANTA ANA RIVER LAKES: The trout bite has been good with weekly plants, including some very large trout. Best fish reported this past week was a 19-4 rainbow landed by Russ Car, Canyon Lake. Trac Nguyen, Lake Forest, had a 17-8, while Miles Crenshaw, Santa Ana, landed a 16-9. Trout at 12-12 were landed by Bill Wright, Norco, and Joe Sacco, Glendora. Information: 714-632-7851.

IRVINE LAKE: Lake only open Wednesday through Sunday each week and no plants are being made. The concession lease ends in March, but the lake could close sooner than that. No limit on trout or catfish. All boating, including use of rental boats, has been suspended here as of Sept. 5. Information: 714-649-9111.

 LAGUNA NIGUEL LAKE: A 2,000-pound trout plant went in last week, and the next plant will be next week (1,500 pounds). Other plants are slated for the following weeks: Feb. 29 (1,800 pounds), March 14 (1,000 pounds), and March 28 (1,000 pounds). There are no fishing fees this season, only the $5 parking fee on weekends (or $3 during the week). For more information, 949-923-2240.
