SANTA ANA RIVER LAKES: The trout bite has been good and more and more trophy trout are starting to show. The biggest of the season, a 22-12, was caught by Moses and Saul Villagomez, Los Angeles, on a Power Mouse at the pumphouse. Santiago Palacios of West Covina landed trout at 9, 8  and 4 pounds on nightcrawlers at the Bubble Hole, while Judith Macias of Los Angeles had a 7-pounder on a PowerBait. The season’s first plant of Lightning Trout will be Thursday, March 16. Trout plants are weekly and trophy fish are part of each plant. Information: 714-632-7851 or log on at fishinglakes.com.

IRVINE LAKE: The lake is closed and will be for at least the immediate future.

LAGUNA NIGUEL LAKE: Trout plant last week. Next plants are slated for the week of March 6, and March 20. These are all 1,000-pound plants.
