SILVERWOOD: There were a pair of DFW trout plants last week on Wednesday and Friday, and the bite has been pretty good around the marina and in Miller Canyon. There will be another plant next week. Sam Jenkins, Apple Valley, had five rainbows to two pounds on nightcrawlers in Miller, while Jeff Miller, Hesperia, had a pair of two-pound rainbows off the dock. The striper and catfish bites has been slow with light fishing pressure. No other reports. Anglers should be aware of health advisories for the consumption of fish from this lake because of high PCB and mercury levels in the fish flesh and skin. Here’s the direct link to a PDF brochure explaining consumption recommendations. Dock fishing is allowed for $3 for adults, $2 for kids and seniors. Private boats must be inspected for zebra and quagga mussels. Boats with wet lower units will be turned away. Boats inspected and tagged at Diamond Valley and Perris will be allowed at Silverwood.
