UPPER OTAY: There was one angler checked and he reported one bass. The lake is open on a Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday for catch-and-release fishing (only artificial lures with single, barbless hooks), sunrise to sunset. WOHLFORD: Final trout plant of the season went in last week. The bite has been spotty with the fish heading to the cooler, deeper parts of the lake, with fish showing on trolled baits or PowerBait fished on long, light leaders. The bass action has been pretty good on crawdads, plastics, and reaction baits. The crappie bite has been fair early in the morning around much of the lake. DOANE POND: DFW trout plants this week and two weeks ago.
DIXON LAKE: The 18th Annaul Trout Derby was won by a 9.21-pound rainbow caught by Robert Gomez, Escondido. Overall, the fishing was good with a lot of limits reported and quite a few bigger fish after the 4,500-pound stocking last week. The best action has continued to be off Pier 1, Whisker Bay, and Jack Creek Cove. The bass action has also continued fair to good, mostly on plastics and reaction baits. POWAY: Slow to fair trout action after the final plant of the season threeweeks ago. The best bite has been in the deeper parts of the lake for boat anglers and the occasional limit is still coming in. The bass action has been good with a lot of two-pound class fish. Anglers are reminded that all bass are catch-and-release through May 31. Catfish are pretty fair on cut baits with fish to 5 pounds reported this week. JENNINGS: The trout bite was fair over the weekend after the last plant of the season last week. The best action has been the buoy line and in Half Moon Cove on PowerBait and inflated nightcrawlers. Cactus Patch, Hermit Cove, and Eagle Cove have also produced fish. The bass bite is also good on drop-shotted plastics and small jigs. The redear bite is also starting to kick into gear. MORENA: The trout bite has been slow to fair with the best bite from the rental boat dock to the courtesy dock. DFW trout plant last week. Bass have been fair to good with some nice largemouth reported. Plastics, reaction baits, and jigs have all been producing the bass.
