FISHING UPDATE: Rain has put a damper on fishing all across the county, and some waters have turned murky. That said, trout action is still pretty fair with some good bites. Top bets this week are Wohlford, Dixon, Jennings, Cuyamaca, and Poway. The best action is always within the first few days after a plant, but most of the lakes have pretty good holdover populations now, provided decent action throughout the week. The bass action has been slow to fair at most waters. Lower Otay, San Vicente, and El Capitan remain decent bets for bass, with most of the fish showing in deep water on shiners, plastics, and jigs, but the cool weather has continued to slow all the bite. The panfish bites are really slowing down, but some quality bluegill continue to come from Murray on red worms off the fishing pier, and Lower Otay has continued to produce a number of crappie in a sleeper bite.
