TOP NEWS: Warmer temperatures have continued to improve the action all along the Colorado River. The action in Havasu and Mohave the bites have really taken off, especially for stripers, largemouth, and smallmouth bass, but the fishing pressure is still pretty light. The lower river always goes off first, but a cool snap and a surge in the flows dropped the water temperatures from 76 to 67 degrees two weeks ago, and the action still hasnít recovered. In Mohave, both the smallmouth and largemouth bass have moved shallow and are on beds and the stripes are showing in all the coves and points near the dam and fish are starting to move upriver. A few bigger fish are already being caught at Willow Beach. In Havasu, all of the coves have largemouth and the smallmouth are on the rocky points, both in shallow water for the spawn. Topoc Marsh and Topoc Gorge are both starting very good for largemouths, stripers, and panfish. The stripers are also getting good all along the upper river with some good catches reported in Havasu and the Bullhead City stretch of the river. Mike Ramsey and Ronald Belton, both Bullhead City, teamed up to landed a 7.54-pound striper. Topoc Marsh remains wide open for smaller stripers, mostly on cut anchovies. Trout planted early this year are still showing in decent numbers in the river at Davis Camp and the Community Park in the Bullhead area. Caid Ambrose, Long Beach, had a limit of rainbows. Catfish are improving, especially in backwaters, ditches, and canals all along the river, and the flatheads are starting to show again in the lower river as water temperatures start to climb back up in area backwaters and ditches.
