ARIZONA FISHING REPORTS: The Arizona Game and Fish Department compiles a weekly report for most waters in the state, including the Colorado Rivers. Anglers can read the report at this direct link: http://azgfd.net/artman/publish/FishingReport/.
FLOW INFORMATION: Reservoir elevation levels and flow releases for the entire lower Colorado River are available at this web site with information updated hourly: www.usbr.gov/lc/region/g4000/hourly/rivops.html.
TOP NEWS: Not a lot of change in the action, and fishing pressure remains relatively light and water levels are very low, especially in the lower river. Fair action for most species. In Havasu and Mohave, the surface bite on stripers is pretty decent most mornings in the south ends of both lakes with a lot of fish from five to seven pounds, and there are a lot of small stripers (under three pounds) showing in the main river from Davis Dam to Topoc Gorge. There are pretty good bites for largemouth and smallmouth all along the river, but Topoc Marsh and the lower river backwaters are the top spots with a lot of bass both places to four pounds. Few bluegill and redear reports, but a few nice fish continue to come into tackle shops each week, most taken in deeper water on small jigs tipped with bait. The flathead catfish bite in the lower river has been slow to fair in the main river. The channel catfish bite is also pretty fair in the main river stretches, but also in all the reservoirs. The trout plants are weekly in the Bullhead-Laughlin stretch of the river, and the bite has been good at the three stocking locations — the Rotary Park Area, the Community Park, and Davis Camp. The 1,700-fish are alternated between each spot each week. The best action has been on meal worms, nightcrawlers, and PowerBait. But a lot are showing on small spinner, jigs, and little spoons. The fish are all around a pound. There are also weekly trout plants at Willow Beach and the bite on rainbows has been good and a few stripers to 10 pounds reported.
