Fish Report-Freshwater, Dec. 24

TOP NEWS: The best action on the river has been for stripers in Lake Mohave, with most of the fish showing in the mouths of coves, off points, and at the dam from Katherine’s Landing to the dam. Most are one to three pounders, but there are eight to 15 pounders in this action. The lower reaches of Havasu are also producing some stripers. Trout action has been fair from Davis Dam into the Big Bend stretch. This week’s plants were at Davis Camp and Rotary Park. Slow to fair action on smallmouth, especially in Havaus and the lower river. Largemouth are slow just about everywhere. The catfish bite has been slowing with cooler water temperatures from Lake Mohave all the way to Yuma, especially in the backwaters and lagoons. The bite in the main river has been best, especially for channels on cut baits. Flatheads pretty slow. The redear and bluegill are slow to fair in Topoc Marsh and Gorge, all of Havasu, and the lower stretch of river backwaters and lakes, but getting very little pressure.
