Fish Report-Freshwater, Jan. 14

TOP NEWS: Very light fishing pressure all along the Colorado River. The top bites have been the striper action in Lake Mohave and Lake Havasu, but they have slowed a little. In Lake Mohave, the fish are showing in the mouths of coves and off points from Katherine’s Landing to the dam. Most are one to three pounders, but there are eight to 15 pounders in this action. In Havasu, the bite is also in the southern end of the lake, mostly on cut baits in deep water. Some stripers are also showing below Davis Dam in the river around Bullhead City. Justin Smith, Bullhead City, caught a 24.64-pound striper on a big swimbait in the old Bullhead area. Trout are slow to fair below Davis Dam with the best areas at the casinos, the community park, and Rotary Park. Other areas and species are mostly slow, even the redear have slowed way down.
