TOP NEWS: Trout plants resumed this past weekend in the upper river at Camp Davis just below Davis Dam at Laughlin. The trout action has been fair to good in this stretch. Stripers remains fair to good in Mohave and Havasu have both had flurries of good striper action over the past week with the fish chasing baitfish, mostly shad. Still some topwater or near-surface action, which sometimes can go on until mid-morning, and then action on fish in deeper water on cut baits. The largemouth and smallmouth bass action is generally just fair throughout the system, with the best action in the backwaters for largemouths. The lower river is also pretty fair for smallmouth bass, but getting little pressure. Havasu is also pretty good on smallmouth up chasing bait early (reaction baits) and then on rocky structure later (jigs and plastics). The catfish bite has been slowing with cooler water temperatures from Lake Mohave all the way to Yuma, especially in the backwaters and lagoons. The bite in the main river has been best, especially for channels on cut baits. Flatheads slowing. The redear and bluegill are fair to good in Topoc Marsh and Gorge, all of Havasu, and the lower stretch of river backwaters and lakes, but getting very little pressure.
