GENERAL UPDATE: The general season closed Sunday, Nov. 15. A number of waters remain open to year-around, catch-and-release fishing.
TOP NEWS: The general season closed Sunday, but the portions of the East and West Walker rivers, most of the Owens River, and Hot Creek remain open to catch-and-release fishing. All four waters have been a little tough with cold water conditions and low flows, but the East Walker is probably the best of the lot with midge and streamer anglers getting a few quality fish topping 16 inches.
TOP FISH OF THE WEEK: Convict Lake continued to produce quality trout right up through the final day of the season, and it has the best fish in the Sierra the last weekend, when Gerard Mangan, Huntington Beach, landed a 6-9 rainbow on yellow PowerBait off the south shore.
