1. The yellowtail bite at the Coronado Islands stays in the top spot after getting better than it was last week. More and more fish continue to flush into the island and most are still in the 8- to 12-pound range. The fish are being targeting on three-quarter- and full-day boats out of San Diego, and fish-fish limits have been even more common this week than last. For an update, check with 976-TUNA.com.
2. Quail Lake has continued to be a hot spots with very good catfish and bluegill action again this week. The catfish have been best at the outlet for anglers fly-lining big hunks of mackerel (so they don’t get snagged as often). The bluegill are best along the south shoreline tules on small baits under a bobber. For an update on this bite, check with Amaysing Fishing Bait & Tackle at 661-429-5824.
3. Castaic Lake’s striper bite moves it into the top picks this week, just edging out nearby Pyramid Lake. With a tick up in volume and better quality fish to six pounds, it easily pushed Pyramid down a notch or two. Lots of 10-fish limits in the past week with fish showing on cut baits or trolled umbrella rigs.
