1. Crowley Lake deserves the top pick, and with just a few days left in the season (it closed Nov. 15), fly anglers need to cash in on this action while they can. The quality of the rainbows has been excellent with fish topping five pounds showing for midge anglers, and while the 50-fish days seem to be waning, the bite is still very good. For an update on this action, check with The Troutfitter in Mammoth Lakes at 760-934-2517 or one of the many guides working the lake.
2. The yellowfin tuna bite off San Clemente stays in the top picks even though the bite dropped off a little at mid-week. The high pressure moving over the area figures to pop the temperature back up and the bite back on. There were several scores of over 100 tuna averaging 20 to 40 pounds with some to 70 pounds, this past week. The season is far from over. For an update on this action, check 976-tuna.com.
3. The largemouth bass bite at San Vicente Reservoir stays the top picks this week. The bite is still good with a lot of three to five-pound bass showing, mostly on plastics fished drop-shot or Texas-rigged in 12 to 25 feet of water, but there are still a lot of fish on cranks and swimbaits in shallower water. For an update on the bite, call the marina at 619-390-1918.
