1. Trout are the name of the game for Southern California anglers now and the heavy trout plants at Dixon Lake in San Diego county has made this a top spot for planted rainbows. Big fish in the 38th Annual Trout Derby was a near-17-pound rainbow. The lake received 6,000 pounds of trout last week and got another 1,500 pounds of Nebraska Tailwalkers this week. 2. For the third week in a row, there has been a very good carp bite at Lake Perris with fish to 15-plus pounds reported this past week. Most of the bigger fish showing on homemade dough baits along the south side of the lake, especially in the Sail Cove area, around the marina docks, and at Lots 11 and 12. 3. The Tanner Bank bluefin tuna bite stays a top pick even if this is thee third week in a row winds and rough conditions have hampered the bite.
