1. Lots of good trout options this weekend, but there is a trout derby at Cucamonga-Guasti Regional Park. That means a bigger-than-normal plant and some trophy fish. The entry fee is $20 per angler with over $1,000 in cash and prizes given away to the anglers catching the biggest 25 rainbows. For more derby information, call 909-387-2461. For fishing information on Guasti, 909-481-4205.
2. Blown out the past two weeks, the yellowtail bite off of Colonet in Mexican waters is still a top bet if you can find a boat making the run. One trip on Monday this week turned up nearly 60 forks to 25 pounds. For an update on this bite, check with www.976-Tuna.com or call Fisherman’s Landing at 619-221-8500, H&M Landing at 619-222-1144, or Seaforth Sportfishing at 619-224-3383.
3. A 3,500-pound trout plant is going into Diamond Valley Lake this week. That means the trout action will be good this weekend, and it also means that some of the lake’s huge stripers will be up chasing those trout. So whether you are into toss small trout jigs or giant trout-like swimbaits, this is a good bet. For an update on the bite, call the the marina at 951-926-7201 or Last Chance Bait and Tackle at 951-658-7410.
