1. The bite on trophy bluefin tuna moves back into the top spot this week with just incredible scores in the past few days for boats from Southern California landings making the run the tuna banks on 1.5-day trips. The tuna have been averaging two grades with most topping 100 pounds and up to 170-plus and the smaller grade fish still 40 to 60 pounds. These are fish-of-a-lifetime tuna. 2. A huge plant of huge trout went into Santa Ana River Lakes this week for the “official” trout season opener on Friday. The lake is closed Thanksgiving day, but reopens Friday. 3. Apollo Park Lake in Lancaster received its second plant of the season this week and the trout action has been excellent with a lot of two-pound class fish and still some rainbows from three to seven pounds.
