1. The bite on bluefin tuna just won’t go away. While it’s not for toads like earlier this year, the action is steady on 20 to 30-pound class fish and two-fish limits are easy on 1.5-day boats running out of landings from San Diego to Los Angeles. For an update on the action, check the reports and audio on 976-tuna.com.
2. The striper bite at Quail Lake has been excellent for anglers fishing frozen shad in the inlet after walking around the north side of the lake. The bait is best fished under a large slip bobber to the angler can cast out into the current and let the bait drift through the feeding zone. For an update on this bite, check with Amaysing Fishing Bait & Tackle at 661-429-5824.
3. While the planted trout is good at waters across Southern California now, Lake Wohlford in San Diego County may be one of the top spots for this week. The lake kicked off the season with a 6,000-pound plant last week and another 1,500 pounds went in this week. Lots of limits with some bigger fish showing.
