1. The dark-horse pick of the week is the crappie and bluegill action that has been reported in Lopez Lake on the Central Coast. There have been a number of 25-fish limits of these panfish reported over the past week, and some fish are topping a pound. For an update on the bite, call the lake’s tackle shop at 805-489-1006.
2. Silverwood Lake received another plant of brown trout last Friday, and the action on the browns and holdover rainbows has been fair but fishing pressure light. Most of the trout showing are in the one-pound plus range, and the browns are showing on small lures while the rainbows are showing on floating dough baits and MiceTails. For an update on the action, check with the marina at 760-389-2299.
3. The Lake Skinner striper bite is staying in the top spots because its striper bite has remained solid with fish to eight pounds reported in the past week. The best bite has continued to be on live shad, but some nice fish are also showing on frozen sardines. For an update on this bite, check with the marina staff at 951-926-8515.
