LAKEWOOD — Bill Osborne, one of the most well known people in the fishing industry, passed away Thursday, May 15. He was 66.
Well-known in the fishing industry, the Lakewood, Calif., native enjoyed fishing for anything that swims, and was good at it, said a longtime friend.
Osborne, who worked on heating and air conditioning repair units, was a tournament fisherman on both the freshwater and saltwater circuits. He was also well known on the long range trips.
He was an avid fisherman sponsored by many companies. Known for his knot tying abilities, Osborne would demonstrate his knot tying abilities at the Fred Hall shows, at the PowerPro and Shimano booths. He did that for approximately 30 years.
Osborne was often invited by various companies to assist on fishing charters.
A memorial for Osborne was held on May 31 at Rose Hills in Whittier, Calif.
