IRVINE—OC Parks announced it would host a Kids’ Fishing Derby at Irvine Regional Park on Jan. 18. The fishing derby will start at 7 a.m. and continue through 11 a.m.
Participants must be 15 years old or younger. All participants are asked to bring his or her fishing pole and bait. Young anglers will be fishing for rainbow trout and trophies will be presented to those who catch the largest fish. Adults will not be allowed to fish the lake until the derby is over.
Registration is required for the derby. All participants can register at the OC Parks check-in table on the day of the event.
There is a parking fee to enter the park; the fee is $5.
Adjacent to the lake are Lakeside Snack Bar and a boathouse; food and picnic supplies are available there for sale. Operating hours vary by season.
