Both Catalina Island and San Clemente Island have been good this past week — for yellowtail, white seabass and calico bass. Pursuit out of 22nd Street Landing was at Catalina several times this past week and on June 18, anglers had 41 yellowtail on live squid, along with two white seabass. Over the weekend, there was also a 50-pound halibut on that boat. Fortune was out on June 18 fishing squid and targeting yellowtail and seabass in this bite, and three halibut, two yellowtail and one white seabass hit the deck. The incredible thing was the 25 giant black seabass that were caught and released on this trip. Ultra, also out of 22nd Street, has reported three-fish limits or near-limits of white seabass every day this week.
