MARINA DEL REY — Anglers from across Southern California will enter the 39th Marina del Rey Halibut Derby — a fun-filled weekend of fishing competition, June 7-8.
Labeled the longest running fishing competition on the West Coast, hundreds of anglers and their families have converged on Santa Monica Bay each year for a fun filled weekend of fishing and camaraderie since 1975.
Money raised in this charity event goes to help fund the Marina del Rey Youth Fishing Program and the white seabass grow-out pens in Marina del Rey. Each year, Marina del Rey Anglers take more than 500 at-risk and disabled youth fishing — and Marina del Rey Anglers release 5,000 white sea bass into local waters.
The whole family can enter in the general, women’s, children’s, or team divisions. For more information, visit halibutderby.com.
