Dana Wharf Sportfishing’s six month Halibut Derby came to an end on Sunday, April 6 with two men besting their competitors. Staff Sgt. Stephen Green is Overall Halibut Derby Winner with a catch of a 40.11 pound halibut on Oct. 20, 2013, a mere 20 days into the derby. His catch allowed him to hold the number one spot the entire time.

On Sunday April 20, all 19 of the 25 anglers competed in a fish off aboard Dana Wharf’s 65-foot fishing vessel, Clemente. The anglers fished for top catches, hoping to reel in the remaining $1,820 Derby Jackpot.

Three legals were caught including one by Staff Sgt. Green who almost doubled his money but in the end Mike Pampu from Upland, Calif., won the day with his 14.15 pound halibut.

Dana Wharf wants to congratulate all that participated in the Halibut Derby, which marks the tournaments 6th year anniversary. The 7th annual derby will kick off on Oct. 1, 2014.
