ESCONDIDO — San Diego’s freshwater anglers have their eyes on Escondido’s Dixon Lake, where 4,500 pounds of rainbow trout were stocked as of Nov. 14. The trout were stocked from Calaveras Trout Farm.
Dixon Lake will be hosting its 40th annual Dixon Lake Trout Derby, Nov. 30 to Dec. 2. It’s the first trout plant of the season for Dixon Lake.
Also receiving rainbow trout plants in November are Lake Jennnings (2,500 pounds, Nov. 12, season opener), Santee Lakes (1,000 pounds, Nov. 16) and Lake Cuyamaca (1,200 pounds, Nov. 20). Lake Jennings (1,500 pounds, Nov. 26) and Santee Lakes (1,000 pounds, Nov. 30) are stocked twice.
Anglers do not need a state fishing license to drop a line at Dixon Lake. A daily permit from the lake, however, must be purchased.
Dixon Lake is open daily, except for Christmas Day.
