Question: Do you follow any superstitions, such as not allowing any bananas on board, when heading out to sea to fish? How strongly do you believe in the superstition?
Capt. Joe Sarno:
I used to believe in the banana thing. But we’ve had bananas on aboard and had some of our best fishing days. It’s a combination of luck and skill. You don’t have to be a rocket scientist [to know where find the most active bites]. There are some anglers I know who follow superstition, but I really don’t have any that I adhere to.
