Central Coast, Aug. 11 report

Hot Bites: Santa Margarita Lake has been good for bass with most fish up chasing baitfish early in the day. Even some topwater. Sarah Guglielmo, Paso Robles, had a 7-8 bass on a home-made in-line spinner. Redear, bluegill fair, catfish, good, crappie good. Lopez Lake has been good for bluegill and redear with the best bite on wax worms and meal worms. Also fair to good action for bass with an occasional crappie. Nacimiento has had a fair bass and bluegill bite and a few crappie reports. Lake San Antonio reopened this past Friday (Aug. 5) on weekends-only (Friday through Sunday) through Sept. 11. Limits is 10 stripers and the bite has been very good with a lot of 10-pound class fish and there is also a decent crappie bite. For information, call the Monterey County Parks at 831-755-4895.
