Central Coast, Aug. 4 report

Hot Bites: Santa Margarita Lake has been good for bass with most fish up chasing baitfish early in the day. Even some topwater with fish to seven pounds reported. Redear, bluegill, and catfish also improving, and some redear to 2 pounds reported off the fishing pier, and the crappie bite has even kicked back in. Lopez Lake has been good for bluegill and redear with the best bite on wax worms and meal worms. Also fair to good action for bass with an occasional crappie. Nacimiento has had a fair bass and bluegill bite and a few crappie reports.
